This ambulance was built for the newly formed Melville SK Ambulance Society. It was to be an elaborate ambulance with raised roof, and since we were pressed for time, took the van to Fleury Industries, an RV manufacturing company in Saskatoon, for them to manufacture the interior cabinets. But they made such a mess of the project that we took the vehicle back and rebuilt the cabinets which took even more time. (For future ambulances we hired Bill Hudson, who was a carpenter and who was the brother-in-law of our business partner Eldon Heppner, to build the medical cabinets and squad benches in his shop at home. This arrangement worked well, it saved us time and greatly improved our quality. Bill later went on to work at Crestline as shop supervisor for many years.)

This photo was taken in 1984 after Melville had sold the ambulance to Shamrock Ambulance at Foam Lake SK, after which we had taken it in trade at Crestline, assigning it Unit number 00696-A.
