Crestline's 4,000th Vehicle
In 2000 we received several requests from Asia and Latin America for ambulances mounted on VW chassis and on the identical Mercedes Sprinter chassis. We already were manufacturing aluminum bodies for these chassis for Germany and Ireland. But we also needed to supply a roof cap for the chassis but didn't have the required dimensions as these chassis were not yet available in North America at that time. So, we asked Wilker to ship one of their chassis to Canada, then modified a Type I roof cap to fit. We then took a variety of advertising photos before shipping the chassis with ambulance body already mounted, back to Ireland.
On one side of the ambulance we applied (ugly) red and yellow decals. Wilker didn't want us to cut out the wheelwells so we applied black paper to resemble wheelwell cutouts.
