Cot in Place

Early ambulance cots were manufactured of (heavy) steel and painted white. After a few years of use and abuse the paint was usually chipped off similar to the cot in the photo. Note the cot is not secured, however in a heavy braking incident the cot will only travel about ten inches before the cot wheels strike the rear seat footrest. Photo from Steve Loftin.
