Doctor Onboard
Many ambulances in Germany are of the Notarzt (Emergency Doctor) type. The doctor and the Paramedic can work on the patient in a standing position (same as they would in a hospital). This requires the ambulances to be 7 feet tall in the interior. After the doctor gives the driver the go ahead to proceed to the hospital, he/she has the option of sitting down or remain standing while holding onto one of the overhead rails with one arm.
See how the doctor's back is bent? He has the option of raising the cot to a more comfortable position.
