Fort Qu'Appelle had two large medical institutions: The Saskatchewan Provincial Government's Sanitorium and the Federal Government's Indian Hospital. Their buses/ambulances are seen here at the Canadian National Railway station in the Town of Fort Qu'Appelle, waiting for new arrivals of patients.

On the back of the Indian Hospital's vehicle is painted:
CANADA
DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL HEALTH & WELFARE
INDIAN HEALTH SERVICES
