Loading Procedure
S&S used this brochure photo to illustrate their recommended loading procedure for a top berth stretcher patient. But it must have been extremely difficult to balance the patient with the cot in the high position. The alternate method of loading a top berth patient was to slide/roll the portable stretcher with patient into the ambulance (on the floor), then have both medics crawl into the ambulance and then lift the stretcher and patient up onto the side wall hooks, and then attach the ceiling bars. Both methods of loading a top berth patient were very difficult and extremely uncomfortable for the patient and as a result were seldom if ever used.
