BC Buys Seven Truck Chassis
The details of this transaction are no longer clear to me. I do remember we had 7 leftover Type I chassis - we may have ordered them for our distributor Demers in Quebec but then they cancelled the order? Type I were not very popular which meant it would take us a long time to sell them and we probably would be selling them below our cost just to get rid of them. But then out of the blue the BC Ambulance Service called and said they wanted to try manufacturing some Type I modulars but it was too late in the Ford ordering year to purchase the chassis, and did we know where they might find some Ford cab and chassis to purchase? We ended up selling all 7 chassis to them and loosing very little money on the deal!
The BC drivers brought along ambulance decals to tape into the back windows of the 7 chassis - I'm not sure why - and in this photo Jim Fissel is taking delivery of the vehicles from Rick Reddekopp.
