Crestview's German Car
Terry Lange worked in this car and wrote "The information I have is that this was one of two imported into Canada from Germany. It was purchased as a demonstrator unit. I was not a fan of this car at all, both from an appearance and operational standpoint. I always dreaded taking this unit (as a last resort) on a call, and then ending up getting stuck in it the rest of the day if things got busy. The floor that held the gurney was several inches above the attendant's seat, so unlike most limos of the time, you were looking up at the patient, rather than at them. In addition, this car originally came with one of those European 'hi-lo' sirens under the front bumper, but fortunately, one of the crew drove into a curb and destroyed it, so we didn't have to listen to that noise again. The City of Winnipeg acquired this car in their takeover in '75, but they scrapped it along with many of the other older aquisitions."
Note: The other imported Mercedes Terry refers to may be the one from Port Alberni, BC.
