Container & Salvage
This ambulance body was built by Franc Metal of Montreal. These bodies were originally built as cantine bodies for the 1984 Papal visit. After the visit they were modified and sold as ambulance bodies to the 21 ambulance services on the island of Montreal. The ambulance companies finished the bodies themselves using whatever materials they had on hand or was cheapest - there were no provincial standards for ambulances at the time except for the color.
When we sold Novacentre (our company in Boucherville, Quebec) in 1996, the new owner did not want to purchase all of our inventory and shop equipment so it was packed into this old trade-in ambulance, loaded onto a flatdeck and transported to Saskatoon. We then sold this beater for salvage.
