AMBULANCIA LOMA PLATA

In 1989 we began our Med*Equip Program to help medical facilites in developing countries. To start the program we reconditioned a 1980 HiTop that we had taken in trade from Aaron Paramedical in Calgary. The ambulance was completely filled with spare mechanical parts as well as used and obsolete medical equipment. It was donated to the hospital in Loma Plata, Paraguay and in this photo our staff is proudly posing beside it.

The ambulance was driven to Winnipeg where it was loaded into a 20 foot ocean container. All empty space in the container in front, beside, underneath and behind the ambulance was then stuffed with donated clothing from the Mennonite Central Committee. When the container arrived in Paraguay the clothing was sold and the proceeds were enough to pay for the cost of the container transportation.
