Steadman Brothers Ambulance
Paul & Lyle Steadman accepting keys from Dean Core, Ford dealer.
Andy Steadman writes "The '69 was bought from Ford as a Chateau Wagon with deluxe interior and then we did the conversion ourselves (4 stretcher conversion). The Ministry came down and took the measurements from our conversion and used ours as a template. In 1975 the Ministry requested that if we wanted to use it as a back-up unit we had to have it converted by Gold Line in London. The factory interior (walls and headliner) had to be replaced with fiberglass to make it easier to sanitize. The ambulance was black with a white top and gold lettering until the Ministry made us change the colours to white and blue. We still have this ambulance in our care and it is still fully stocked. It was used up until 1982."
